Aims and Ethos.
Our aim shall be to further amateur radio by increasing the awareness of Amateur Radio within the wider community and serving the public; by promoting technical knowledge and individual operating proficiency of its members; by operating Radio within the community when community events are taking place.
To show the community what Amateur Radio can do for them in cases of emergency.
By working with the younger generation Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Boys and Girls Brigades it is hoped that we, BSARS, will be able to make a small contribution towards keeping Amateur Radio alive for generations to come.
Brede steam amateur radio society was set up in January 2005 by amateur radio enthusiasts who wanted to operate radio. The club was formed to enable its members to participate in competitions and promote amateur radio. So many radio clubs these days have regular meetings and lectures etc. be it each week or each month, but there are few that are purely an operation club.Over time the club has become more and more recognised as a club whose ambitions are to move forward all the time. Training and special eventing is paramount for the club, and amateur radio, to survive.
The club now has a New Operating Shack and works closely with the First Brede Scout Group.
