CLUB INFORMATION

JOTA Weekend 2008.

On the weekend of October 18/19 2008 members of BSARS participated in JOTA on site with the First Brede Scout Group.

Above are just some of the Scouts and Leaders from Hastings and Battle Scouting groups that took part in JOTA and gained their Communicator badges.

Above are some of the scouts waiting for their turn to use the club rig to talk to other scouting groups around the country.

(BSARS) members were kept busy at Brede during Jamboree On The Air with tuition sessions for approximately 27 scouts from Hastings, on the Saturday and 20 Cubs from Hastings and Battle groups on Sunday. Activities included radio theory, demonstrations of different types of communications, short-wave listening and the passing of messages to other JOTA and amateur stations. Because of the numbers involved the scouts/cubs were split into small groups and took it in turns at the various activities. Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves and after a rather shy start to sending messages to other stations, the cubs wanted to keep passing messages even after time was called (by whistle). At the end of the each day communications badges were awarded to all Scouts and Cubs, even to the BSARS members present.  BSARS members are already booked for next years JOTA.
