Lighthouse weekend 2008

During August 16th and 17th BSARS members took part in Lighthouses on the air weekend. The Lifeboat station offered the use of their communication room for the duration of the event.

The antennas that were used was a full size G5RV and a white stick for 6 meters.

Although conditions were not very favourable contacts were made with the states and various Lighthouses around the world, including the oldest wooden Lighthouse in the world. Several Submarines were also contacted.

The Lifeboat station had it's open day on the same weekend which helped BSARS with advertising, which is always good. Many visitors were interested in what we were doing and the team were only too pleased to tell them. On the Sunday the Lifeboat had a burial to perform at sea which was quite an experience for BSARS members.

During the weekend there was time for BSARS members to take a break and enjoy the weather and entertainment!
